Environmental Awareness and Gaia: What the Land Is Telling Us

October 20, 2026

For me, environmental awareness and Gaia begin with a simple idea: the Earth is one living, breathing whole. Gaia is my guiding perspective, a way of seeing rather than settled science.

Listening to the Ground

When I walk in this old country, I notice how little water there is. The soil in places has become broken, cracked, and tired beneath the sun.

It reminds me that the land remembers. Where I stood today was once the sea, and that thought humbled me completely.

The Earth’s Quiet Power

Not long ago, a great earthquake stirred off Kamchatka, far across the water. It was a reminder that Gaia holds power far beyond our control. This is the heart of environmental awareness and Gaia—we are guests, not masters.

A Hopeful Way of Seeing

I don’t share these thoughts to frighten anyone. I share them because awareness can be gentle, and hope can grow from attention.

When we treat the Earth as living, we begin to care differently. Small shifts in how we see become small shifts in how we live
